Sentinel Insurance--mass data theft

Wayne Madsen Report - Home

Aug. 1, 2006 -- Another mass data theft has occurred. Wisconsin-based Sentinel Insurance has reported the theft by an unidentified consultant of personal data on 112,000 workmen's compensation claimants. The data contained Social Security Numbers and other sensitive information. The Secret Service arrested the unidentified consultant outside of Wisconsin. The failure by the Secret Service to disclose the identity of the perpetrator may indicate that he is part of a more extensive ring, which is under investigation. WMR's intelligence sources report that most of the recent data thefts are part of a covert U.S. intelligence operation designed to populate Total Information Awareness system databases.
