Venezuela police siezes 2.5 tons of cocaine
CARACAS, Nov. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- The Venezuelan National Guard has seized 2.5 tons of cocaine in the north Orinoco region, President Hugo Chavez said Sunday.

Part of the haul had been found in t he inside of a United States-registered plane, Chavez said in his weekly television and radio show.

Eleven people were arrested in a police raid on a hidden airfield and six others who fled were being tracked down, Chavez said.

Experts estimate some 300 tons of cocaine flows abroad each year through Venezuela from neighboring Colombia. Enditem
