BEIRUT, Lebanon Syria is vowing to respond "immediately" if it's attacked by Israel.
The warning comes from the Syrian foreign minister, who says his country's armed forces are on orders to respond to any Israeli attack, be it by ground or air.
Israel has promised not to attack Syria. But more than 20 Syrian workers were killed last week when an Israeli air strike took out the produce warehouse they were working in just across the border in Lebanon.
Syria's foreign minister is also denouncing the U-S-French plan for a cease-fire, calling it "a recipe for the continuation of the war." He says all Israeli troops have to be out of Lebanon before Hezbollah militants will stop fighting.
