Syria Stresses Deep Relations with Algeria
**keep in mind Russia's arms deals, someone down the line is going to claim that Russia is funnelling arms to Syria via Algeria**

Information Minister Dr. Mohsen Bilal has expressed Syria's appreciation over Algeria's big contributions in enhancing contacts and rapprochement among the Arab countries, asserting deep-rooted relations between the two fraternal countries.



During his meeting with Algerian Culture Minister Mrs. Khaleda al-Toumi, Dr. Bilal said that Syria and Algeria are twins countries and the two brotherly peoples are connected by very old relations.



The Minister stressed the importance of promoting the Syrian-Algerian relations to a very high level of cooperation and coordination in the cultural and media fields in a way that reflects the joint cultural and historical dimensions between them.



For her part, Mrs. Al-Toumi expressed admiration over the coexistence Syria is enjoying, noting that " Syria is the real practical symbol of coexistence among religions and civilizations on the world level".



She called all the world states to benefit from the Syrian experience in this regard.



The Algerian Minister talked about the importance of activating media exchange and joint production in this field between the two countries.



She also expressed hope that the experience of Arab and Islamic Culture Capitals will represent an additional participation in the cultural interaction, pointing out to choice of Algiers the capital as Capital of Islamic culture for the year 2007 and Damascus for the year 2008.
