Venezuela Hosts UN Palestine Forum - Prensa Latina

Venezuela Hosts UN Palestine Forum - Prensa Latina: "Venezuela Hosts UN Palestine Forum

Caracas, Dec 15 (Prensa Latina) Senegalese Paul Badji, president of the UN Committee for Palestinian people?s inalienable rights, opened a public forum in Venezuela on Thursday on that cause.

In roundtable discussions, experts are giving their perceptions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the role of the media, and repercussions and responsibility of educational centers.

Representatives of 30 nations, non governmental organizations, UN and State entities are debating the role of civil society in the Palestinian issue.

The expert panel at the Caracas Hilton Hotel includes Venezuelan Ambassador to Syria Dia Nader and Lebanese Honorary Consul to the Venezuelan city of Valencia, Fadi Kallab.

The UN meeting for Latin America and the Caribbean on Palestine, which concluded Wednesday night in Caracas, condemned Israeli resumption of military incursions in that country and extrajudicial executions practiced on its population.

The meeting summary concluded this is threatening to destroy the fragile truce accepted by Palestinian groups, cause hatred, and eliminate progress made.

The participants 'strongly condemned' the construction of the wall and extension of settlements in Palestine occupied territory, challenging the consultative opinion of the International Court of Justice.

The declaration also condemned attacks on civilians in Israel, because they undermine confidence between the sides.

Venezuela was elected in November 2005 as an observer member of the UN Commission for Palestine."
