Please allow us to be the first to welcome you to the new Capitol Hill Blue. More than just the new look on our home page and article layouts. The changes extend to our internal operations.
Teresa Hampton has agreed to take on additional duties and her new title will be editor and publisher of CHB. Founder Doug Thompson is stepping away from the day-to-day operations but will continue to write The Rant and other stories as they come along.
Terry has worked on and off for Blue over the years and brings extensive experience to the job. A Washington-based writer, she worked for the St. Louis Globe-Democrat and Washington Evening Star and served a stint as a communications director on Capitol Hill.
Bill McTavish returns to our staff as contributing editor. He will do investigative pieces and commentary. Bill’s newspaper experience includes the Chicago Daily News, Chicago Today and Washington Evening Star. He reported on the 2000 Presidential campaign for Capitol Hill Blue and broke several stories about ties between President George W. Bush’s financial backers and the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and Justice smear campaigns against Democratic contender John Kerry.
In addition, Blue has completed its conversion to a new publishing platform that allows reader comments directly on our stories. Terry and Bill will serve as moderators for the comment system. ReaderRant will continue to be our premier place for discussion not only of articles that appear on Blue but also on issues facing this country.
On May 1, American Newsreel, a blog started by Doug Thompson two years ago, will become part of CHB and will be a blog within the news section. All of the editorial staff will contribute to it.
