Pentagon Asks for Criminal Investigation into Tillman's Death

(CBS 5 NEWS) - A criminal investigation has been opened into the death of Army Ranger Pat Tillman.
The Pentagon has asked the Army's criminal investigative division to carry out the inquiry. They’ll be trying to determine if Tillman's death was negligent homicide. He was killed in Afghanistan in 2004 in what’s been described as friendly fire.
Tillman was a star football player at ASU before being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals. He walked away from millions of dollars in a football career to join the Army shortly after 9-11.
Tillman's family was told of the investigation on Friday.
